Leftist Foam, Froth and Fury

By William L. Garvin

“I don’t give them Hell; I just tell the truth about them and they think it’s Hell.”

Harry S. Truman

There is so much inconsistency, intolerance, outrage and hypocrisy in the leftist world this week that it’s a wonder they can even walk with their panties bunched up that tightly!  Their latest undie-twister came when the Supreme Court ruled in McCutcheon v. FEC that donors have the right to give campaign contributions to as many candidates as they want.  The ceiling on contributions to individuals or party committees remains the same but the aggregate has been eliminated.  It’s “another step on the road to ruination,” caterwauled Chuck Schumer, the Democrat senator from New York.  He did not elaborate on the $11million he has sitting in his campaign kitty.

“All it does is take away people’s rights because, as you know, the Koch brothers are trying to buy America,” whined Harry Reid, the Democrat Senate Majority Leader.  Well, Harry, at least they’re not out buying thousands of dollars of jewelry “trinkets” for their granddaughter out of campaign funds!  Of course, all Harry will have to do is reimburse his campaign versus Dinesh D’Souza, who has been indicted by a federal grand jury for illegal campaign contributions of about the same amount.  Of course, the fact that D’Souza makes movies critical of the president has nothing to do with it…it’s coincidence not causation.  Of course it is.

And here you go again with your obsession for painting the Koch brothers and conservatives as some sort of evil James Bond-type villains.  You might want to visit www.opensecrets.org website for some actual facts about contributions.  There are 22 groups listed that contributed more to the Democrat party than Koch Industries contributed to the Republican party.  By way of comparison, the top ten donors to the DNC coughed up $485,652,385.00 while the top ten donors to the RNC topped out at $271,108,726.00.  Nine of the top ten DNC donors are unions so who do you think will be most successful in “buying America”?  If money in politics is evil, does that make unions more evil than the Koch brothers?

Speaking of evil, California has three state senators under indictment for corruption, Leland Yee, Ron Calderon, and Rod Wright, all democrats.  Wright has already been convicted but not sentenced and the anti-Second Amendment zealot Yee has ironically been charged with gun trafficking by the FBI.  None of the three had the moral compunction to resign so the Senate finally got around to suspending them.  Of course, they were suspended WITH PAY so just as with Lois Lerner, they get free vacations at taxpayers’ expense for violating their oaths of office and public trust.

In other example of twisting in the wind, leftist hypocrisy, the screening of the film HONOR DIARIES has been shut down by the University of Michigan Dearborn.  This film is the story of nine Islamic women who been subjected to horrific abuse and misogynistic treatment living in an “honor culture.”  Apparently, the Council on Arab-Islamic Relations (CAIR) perceives the honor killings, honor beatings, child marriages, and genital mutilations as “islamophobic” and also was incensed because it was “produced by a Jew.”  So much for diversity of thought on campus.  Meanwhile, prominently displayed on this same campus is a poster that proclaims “ABORTION IS A GIFT FROM GOD.”  That is wrong on so many levels but for some reason, the American Atheists and the Freedom From Religion Foundation have yet to weigh in on this one.  The double standard for “sensitivity” and “diversity” leaves a putrid stench.

A final example of leftist intolerance was the malevolent attack against Brendan Eich who committed the unpardonable sin of believing marriage should be between one man and one woman.  He confirmed his permanent place in liberal hell by donating $1,000 to the support of Proposition 8 in 2008.  Eich, the inventor of JavaScript and recently promoted CEO of Mozilla, was forced to resign because of his targeting by the “gay Gestapo,” a term coined by Tammy Bruce.  Andrew Sullivan, also gay and a supporter of same sex marriage said: “It’s staggering to me that a minority long persecuted for holding unpopular views can now turn around and persecute others for the exact same reason. If we cannot live and work alongside people with whom we deeply disagree, we are finished as a liberal society.”  That’s it in a totalitarian nutshell.  You are only free to think, speak, and act like me.

It is also important to note that, much like the Chic-fil-A uproar, there was not a scintilla of evidence that Eich had ever discriminated against anyone in any situation.  It is probably safe to conjecture that most of his liberal persecutors contributed to and supported either Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton in 2008.  At that time, both of them held the position that marriage should be between one man and one woman.  Where’s your capricious outrage now?!
